The Bruins outshot the Devils 9-5 in a scoreless second period. The third period, like the second, featured no scoring. Mikey Eyssimont appeared to score on a Mason Lohrei rebound, but Sheldon Keefe challenged for offside, wiping it off the board and keeping the game at 4-0.

With the win, the Bruins locked in the top wild card spot and will face the Buffalo Sabres (50-23-8) in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Bruins went 3-1-0 against the Sabres this season, but two of those wins came in October. The Sabres have been the league’s best team since Jarmo Kekalainen took over as general manager, going 36-9-4 since December 15. Their last meeting was on March 25, when the Bruins came back late and picked up an overtime win on the road.FOLLOW @JACKSTUDLEY13 ON 𝕏 | FOLLOW @BOSHockeyNow ON 𝕏
