Leaders and members of the Nasarawa North Senatorial Zone have adopted far-reaching zoning resolutions ahead of the 2026 Senatorial bye-elections and the 2027 general elections. The resolutions were contained in a communiqué issued after the 4th meeting of the Nasarawa North Political Consultative Forum held in Akwanga on Sunday, 12th April, 2026. In the communiqué signed by the Forum’s Chairman, Sen.

John Danboyi, and Secretary, Prof. Salih Alizaga, the meeting deliberated on matters affecting the unity, political cohesion, and socio-economic advancement of the zone. The Forum expressed concern over persistent disunity in the zone, which it said has been driven by growing mistrust among stakeholders.

“That lack of unity has led to reduced political bargaining power at state and national levels, fragmented representation in key institutions, heightened intra-community tensions, and missed opportunities for collective progress, the communiqué stated. The Forum therefore called for renewed commitment to unity, trust-building, and inclusiveness among stakeholders in Nasarawa North. On the forthcoming 2026 Senatorial Bye-Election, the Forum resolved that Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area should be allowed to complete the tenure of the late Senator Godiya Akwashiki.

The Forum also zoned other key elective positions for the 2027 General Elections. It resolved that the Nasarawa North Senatorial District seat be zoned to Akwanga Local Government Area, while the House of Representatives seat be zoned to Wamba Local Government Area.
