Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has approved the release of N1.3 billion for the payment of the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) fees and N200 million for the School Feeding and Exchange Programme. The funds approved by the governor are to settle payments for the 2026 WAEC fees for 39, 536 students, including CASS offload, administrative charges, practicals, and monitoring, among others. Similarly, the funds will be used to pay food contractors, and transportation of students involved in exchange programmes to various secondary schools across the state.
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Augustina Godwin, disclosed this during the symbolic presentation of cheques held at the WAEC office and Government Comprehensive Secondary School (GCSS), Jalingo, respectively, on Tuesday. She explained that the intervention underscores the administration’s commitment to improving access to quality education and ensuring students participate in both internal and external academic programmes.
