Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Ali Isa JC, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing internal crisis and the alleged takeover of the party by undemocratic elements. In a letter dated April 14, 2026, addressed to the chairman of Kindiyo Ward, Cham, in Balanga Local Government Area of Gombe State, the lawmaker said his resignation takes immediate effect. Ali Isa, who represents Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency, said the decision followed deep reflection and extensive consultations with his family, political associates, friends and key stakeholders.

He alleged that the party had strayed from its founding ideals, noting that its structure had been hijacked, leading to the emergence of factional leadership. “My decision is compelled by the way and manner some undemocratic forces have hijacked the party for reasons contrary to its founding principles,” he stated. The lawmaker said his next political move would be guided by the need to better serve the interests of his constituents. He said the people of Balanga/Billiri deserve a more credible and stable political platform that can guarantee their future and aspirations.
