The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 146 suspects during a special raid codenamed “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe.” The Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the raid was part of efforts to prevent crime and address emerging security concerns in Sagamu and its environs. Babaseyi said the operation followed strategic engagements with traditional authorities, the Sagamu Local Government Council and heads of security agencies aimed at strengthening a collaborative security framework. “It was jointly executed by personnel of the Nigeria Police Force alongside the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Amotekun Corps, the Ogun State Community Security (So-Safe) Corps and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), demonstrating a unified and proactive response,” he said.
He added that the suspects are undergoing screening to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities. According to him, those found culpable will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution. The Commissioner of Police assured residents of the command’s commitment to intelligence-led and proactive policing, as well as sustained efforts to ensure peace and security across the state.
